INTRODUCTION
CELEBRATING THE REUNION
After two years of programming on digital platforms, we are back in movie theaters. It took two years of reinvention and adaptation, and we arrived at our 33rd edition ready to navigate this hybridity that must not abandon us. We celebrate the return to some of our favorite rooms, with the full schedule, and we also count on our partners to continue in dialogue with the audiences who accompanied us virtually during the pandemic.
This year's program renews our commitment to the idea of an audiovisual festival as a space for shared immersion in content to be enjoyed and debated in the collective. And now, in this hybrid world, we are also betting on the reach that technology provides.
Over the years, it has allowed us not only to bring in new viewers, but also to showcase the work of a much wider variety of filmmakers. The camera is in everyone's pocket and purse and the result is always on our screens, also from the training action of the Kinoforum Workshops, which since 2001 have taken audiovisual content to young people on the edges of the capital.
But this technology that brings you closer can also push you away, when groups close and stop dialoguing. The return to the rooms encourages us to think about the possibilities of these meetings, the return of dialogue, in the face of the pressing need to build a new social pact, with the characters who always wanted to be part of the story and now, more than ever, are beginning to do so, while telling their own stories.
There are films from more than 40 countries and exhibitions in different neighborhoods and screens. We invite you to accompany us on this journey and to open up to new languages and new perspectives. Because the audiovisual transforms.

RENEWED PARTNERSHIP
Continuing with a partnership that began in the last edition, Itaú Unibanco supports the 33rd edition of the São Paulo International Short Film Festival, one of the most traditional events dedicated to the cinematographic format, held since 1990 in the city of São Paulo. The support is in line with Itaú Cultural (IC)'s constant dialogue with audiovisual production, an artistic axis present in several of the organization's actions.
In this edition, the festival makes available through Itaú Cultural play – streaming platform dedicated to national audiovisual, launched in 2021 – two shows: "Youth Connection" presents documentaries in which situations of the daily lives of young people in five Brazilian states are addressed, while "Descobertas", only in the platform, brings works of new filmmakers from different regions of the country. The films join the more than 80 titles in short film format on display on the platform. See it for free at itauculturalplay.com.br.
Among other IC fronts in which the audiovisual sector stands out, the program Ocupação, in 55 editions, has already honored important filmmakers such as Eduardo Coutinho, Luiz Sergio Person and Rogério Sganzerla – access exclusive content at itaucultural.org.br/ocupacao.

INTENSE INSTANT
The history of the short film is intertwined with the trajectory of cinema itself. It refers to the first public exhibition of a work considered as a film, Arrival of a train at the station, by the Lumière brothers, in 1895. From then on, the format was consolidated as a language, welcoming different plots conceived according to a common parameter: the temporal brevity. This condition influenced the narrative possibilities and implied inventive approaches in terms of script.
From formalism to experimentation, the short film achieved expressive autonomy in different media. And, given its production versatility, it has become democratized as a format accessible to new filmmakers, expanding the various windows of production and dissemination.
A synthesis of the cultural environment of its time, the short film is permanently updated, spreading across genres and styles. A retrospective look suggests that the historical paths taken by the shorts work as precursors of contemporary audiovisual experiments - including stories, minute films, short stories filmed in selfie -, among many other variants that inhabit our daily lives.
On this occasion, Sesc, by supporting the 33rd São Paulo International Short Film Festival, of which it has been a partner since the first editions, reaffirms its commitment to an inclusive cultural action. Through its Digital Platform, the institution seeks to expand the contact of different audiences with the audiovisual language and emphasize its diversity with the exhibition of national and foreign films. In addition, the training bias is reinforced through a series of meetings with professionals in debates, workshops and courses. It is about reconciling fruition and reflection, inviting people to embark on these brief and intense moments.

SPCINE CELEBRATES THE 33rd SPSFF
With a partnership established 6 years ago, Spcine celebrates, once again, the schedule of the São Paulo International Short Film Festival – Curta Kinoforum, which this year reaches its 33rd Edition. A fundamental part of São Paulo's calendar and audiovisual culture — and, without a doubt, national — the festival has been bringing for more than three decades the best short-film productions made around the globe. Proof of this are the 220 short films selected this year, from 42 countries.
The refined, rich and diverse curation meets the pillars of Spcine, which in its genesis has always valued the dissemination of new stories, coming and produced by diverse and decentralized perspectives.
We are happy to announce that Circuito Spcine, which is the largest public cinema network in Brazil, will be part of the Kinoforum program and will take national and international titles to theaters throughout the capital of São Paulo, including the periphery.
To further strengthen the initiative, Spcine will also have training activities, such as the masterclass “Understanding the audiovisual in its interior and hacking the system from the inside”, with filmmaker Jefferson De, by the Spcine Convida Formation project. The free activity takes place at the São Paulo Cultural Center and is open to the public.
In addition, we will have a closed workshop, aimed at professionals in the audiovisual sector, and the hiring of a professional from the Spcine Training Network to work in person at the event.
Long live Kinoforum!
