In addition to being a popular artist, João de Cordeira is a retired farmer and struggles to keep alive the tradition of the Carnival group Caboclinhos do Sítio Melancia, in the countryside of Pernambuco. His dream is to pay tribute to his grandfather in Juazeiro do Norte (CE).
